I've never written a blog before, or anything like one in fact. Writing about myself, my own experiences and opinions often seems like quite a self-indulgent activity to me. Strangely though, I don't read other people's blogs and think of them as self-indulgent (well, mostly). I read other people's blogs, both in the extended design community and outside of it, and I usually end up feel inspired, or envious, or both. Some people have a way with words that captures my imagination, while others seem to be doing all the things that I think about doing. Either way, I never think that they're ridiculous for thinking that anyone would be interested in reading about them, because I'm interested.
After procrastinating for too long, I've given myself a metaphorical slap around the head and decided to bite the bullet. Boydlee also gave me a metaphorical slap after getting quite fed up with my umming and ahhing. I should warn you though, I find it hard to stay on topic, and while design is what I do and love, other subject matter will undoubtedly catch my attention. I often rant about stupid and inconsiderate things that people do, or about my supermarket deciding to temporarily stop stocking the only brand of mayonnaise that I like just when I've run out, or about a whole host of odd things. While I can't promise to stay on topic, I promise that I will say what I'm thinking and feeling honestly. I'll do my best to make sure that it's coherant enough for you to understand too.
I think I might go get some lunch now… |
